As business owners, we often spend a gross amount of time putzing around with emails. If you don’t know this super secret Gmail tip, you’re wasting time writing the same emails over and over again, FOR NO REASON. I can’t keep this secret to myself for another second, so listen up, buttercup!
I used to feel like a slave to my Gmail account, until flipped the tables, just like Teresa Giudice.
If you’re ready to dominate Gmail and spend more time catching up on the latest Real Housewives drama (or gardening, flossing your cat’s teeth, whatever you do in your spare time), you’re going to flip over this Fast Friday tip!
Canned responses are basically email scripts you can insert into a new email, personalize a little, and send off. No more taking 20 minutes to write an email that you’ve written 100 times before, only to hit send and realize you forgot to mention something uber important.
Follow these simple instructions to set yours up today!
- Click the gear icon in the top right corner
- Head to “settings”
- Click “labs”
- Type “canned responses” into the search bar
- Check “enable” in the canned response box
- Hit “save changes”
Now you’re ready to create some responses!
- Click “compose” as you would normally do when writing a new email
- Write out the email template
- If you use an auto signature, delete it from the email. Otherwise it will appear twice on your emails!
- Click the arrow next to the trash icon
- Hit “canned responses” and save as a new canned response
- Name the response
To use one of your canned responses, simply open a new email, click on that arrow next to the trash bin again, and click on the email you’d like to use!
These responses are awesome for general emails you find yourself writing constantly! I use them for general inquiries, follow ups, thank you’s, and material delivery. Just make sure you go in and change the emails a little bit so they are personal and answer any specific questions the person you’re emailing has!
There you have it! Create some canned responses today and never spend a weekend drafting the same ol’ emails over and over again!!
